We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website.

Mega Outlet Chester is an independent retailer and reseller of clearance, overstock and end-of-line stock. We are not the manufacturer of the products we sell and we are not an official storefront for, or affiliated with, any of the brands listed. All brand names, logos and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners and are used only to describe the goods offered for sale.

Payments and card data

Checkout and payment are handled by Shopify's hosted checkout. Your card details are entered on Shopify's secure payment pages and are never seen or stored by this website.

What data we collect

• Order details — the name, delivery address, email and phone number you provide at checkout, used to process and deliver your order.
• Your basket — stored in your browser so your items are still there when you return.
• Messages you send us — anything you send via our contact page or social accounts, used only to answer you.

We do not sell your personal data. Order data is processed by Shopify as our commerce platform, by our order management system, and by the delivery carrier fulfilling your order.

Why we use it, and for how long

• Performing our contract with you — processing, dispatching and supporting your order.
• Legal obligation — keeping sales and VAT records, which UK tax law requires us to retain for 6 years.
• Legitimate interests — answering your enquiries, preventing fraud and keeping the site secure.
• Consent — optional analytics and advertising cookies, and marketing messages if you opt in. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Enquiry emails are kept for up to 2 years. Some of our providers (including Shopify and Google) are based outside the UK, so your data may be transferred internationally under safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

Cookies and local storage

Essential: browser storage that remembers your basket and completes checkout, plus cookies Shopify sets for checkout and fraud prevention. These are required for the shop to work.

Optional analytics: Google Analytics, which only loads if you accept it in our cookie banner. Analytics stays switched off until you consent, and you can change your mind by rejecting it in the banner or clearing this site's cookies and browser storage in your browser settings.

Optional advertising: Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) and the TikTok Pixel, which only load if you accept optional cookies. They help us measure the performance of our ads and show relevant advertising. Like analytics, they stay off until you consent and you can withdraw that choice at any time.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict or object to our use of it, ask for it to be ported elsewhere, and withdraw any consent you gave. Some data must be kept where the law requires it (for example tax records on a completed order). To make a request, contact us. We reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Terms of sale

• Prices are shown in GBP and include VAT where applicable. Delivery costs are shown at checkout.
• Stock is limited and often end-of-line. An order is accepted once we confirm it; if an item turns out to be unavailable we will refund it in full.
• We aim for every listing to be accurate. If an obvious pricing or description error occurs we will contact you before dispatch rather than fulfil at the wrong price.
• Orders are normally dispatched daily from our UK warehouse on working days; delivery services and timescales are shown at checkout.
• Your cancellation and return rights, including the returns address and who pays return postage, are set out on our delivery & returns page. Nothing here affects your statutory rights.
• These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Complaints

Email megaoutletchester@gmail.com with your order number. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 3 working days and resolve them within 14 days.
